The New UI
So, I've talked a bit about the engine and what I want from it capabilities-wise backend, but what will I do UI-wise? Well, I'll show you! I just uploaded a very early draft of the engine. It won't get you very far, but you should be able to tell how things may end up looking. I've been hanging onto this for a while, but ultimately decided to upload it so that I could get feedback early on. The reason I've been hanging onto it is mostly to implement some extra features first. I'll go over those in a bit, but let's first go over what features this does have!
One-click choices: I've gotten feedback that in choicescript, the story is really bogged down by having to make two clicks for each choice (and I suspect also the slight animation doesn't help). Now, you only have to make one!
You're told what you don't have: Along with some other planned niceties, you're now told if you can't make a choice why you can't make it.
A space for an image: I don't have images yet, but you can see where they would go on the right.
A dummy button for the stats screen: It doesn't work yet, but you can see that I'm going to keep the stats screen feature. However, I have some plans to make stats more navigable!
A proud banner! I now have the title nice and clear at the top. It was at the top before, but like, I don't know something about this new arrangement just make me feel prouder of it :)
Of course, this isn't all. I'm also hoping to add shortcut buttons for commonly used actions, italicize text that hasn't been seen yet so that you don't miss it, and format things prettier in general. I'm also hoping to add some quick look info, like recent actions or important stats like doubloons. Part of the reason I haven't implemented this yet is because I'm not sure what would be best for a user, so let me know what you'd like to see!
